Absentee Author on the Loose

"Author". I'm still getting used to that. Writing was simply a hobby to me, from the time I was a preteen. At that time, my main reading interests was the fantasy genre, and my writing reflected that. Despite hours of penmanship, the stories never seemed to flow properly.

Now that I've discovered my niche -horror- the words come more easily. Writing has become a pleasure instead of a distraction or a chore. Unfortunately, this attitude does not translate to blogging. I don't like talking about myself and it shows. My husband, whom I've tasked with handling the marketing for my books, started a Facebook fan page for me, which I occasionally post to.

So, it's been months since I posted anything on here. Then again, I was writing my second novel FORSAKEN. Like Diana's Dreams, it's a supernatural horror/thriller. Unlike Diana's Dreams, the central character is not the victim, but the perpetrator. The book is about Jesse Hawkins, a young man with a dark past and even darker secret, who moves to a small Kansas town to escape his demons. Once there, his life takes on new meaning when he feels tasked with doing God's work on Earth: freeing good souls from their earthly bodies before they can become corrupted by life.

Meanwhile, as the deaths start to mount, an ancient vampire who calls the town his home awakens from a decades-long slumber. After sating his thirst, he becomes interested in the young serial killer. What to do with a mortal who's bloodlust almost rivals his own? Including an array of supporting characters, and plent of blood, violence and humor, FORSAKEN is my favorite work so far.

Hope you like it, too!
